The following terms apply in addition to the eligibility criteria outlined in the Request for Applications. All awardees are required to comply with these conditions. Terms are divided by award jurisdiction.
US Awards — CMV-101-26
The following terms apply to awards made under the California programme (CMV-101-26).
The recipient institution must provide documentation confirming tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. A copy of the IRS determination letter must be submitted upon acceptance of award.
The recipient institution's Employer Identification Number (EIN) must be provided upon acceptance of award.
Funds may not be used for political activities, including participating in or intervening in any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. Funds may not be used for lobbying, including any attempt to influence legislation.
Transactions constituting self-dealing between Critical Mass Ventures and disqualified persons (including substantial contributors, foundation managers and/or trustees, their family members, and entities they control) are strictly prohibited.
Singapore Awards — CMV-102-26
The following terms apply to awards made under the Singapore programme (CMV-102-26), in addition to any general obligations set out in the Request for Applications.
The recipient institution must provide documentation confirming its legal status as a Singapore statutory board, public university, registered charity, Institution of Public Character (IPC), or public healthcare institution under Singapore law. Confirmation of registration with the relevant authority (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, or Commissioner of Charities) must be submitted upon acceptance of award.
The recipient institution's Unique Entity Number (UEN), as issued by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), must be provided upon acceptance of award.
The award amount of S$100,000 is inclusive of any applicable GST. Recipients are responsible for any GST obligations arising from the award as determined by their institution's tax status and applicable IRAS guidelines.
All research activities funded under this award that involve personal data must comply with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and any amendments thereto. Awardees must ensure appropriate consent, data governance, and security measures are in place.
Funds may not be used for political activities or donations as defined under Singapore's Political Donations Act (Cap. 236). Recipients must comply with all restrictions on foreign donations to political parties and candidates.
Transactions constituting self-dealing between Critical Mass Ventures and disqualified persons are strictly prohibited, consistent with the obligations of a responsible foreign grant-maker operating under Singapore law.
